Unleashed Media™, one of Silicon Valley's fastest growing Web development firms completed and launched the updated, more user-friendly flyingpanda.com Web site for cataloger Flying Panda Gifts of Menlo Park, CA.

“Our most pressing need was to triple the number of products on our site in the shortest time possible. At the same time we wanted to make the site more easy for customers to use,” said Judy Horst, president and founder of Flying Panda Gifts. “We wanted people to see at a glance all major categories of products we offered for pets and pet owners, and we also needed to guide our customers to the most specific breed-specific products in the fewest clicks possible.” Unleashed Media also had to maintain the current site through the holidays, while sprinting toward a launch date for the new site in mid-April.

While the complex design and navigation objectives presented large challenges, Unleashed Media also had to create a database for the shopping cart and customize it to Flying Panda’s specific market. “We were also able to add several personalized services, like a calendar reservation system to the site,” said Mike Driggers, president of Unleashed Media. “Evidently some of Flying Panda’s customers couldn’t get the calendars they wanted because vendors couldn’t supply them late in 2001; so when Judy told us about the problem, we provided a solution as well as a tracking mechanism to make it easy to ship reserved calendars in the fall. Customers can now reserve next year’s calendars today, knowing their favorites will be there later in the year.”
